Wix vs wordpress?? SEO

I currently have a wix site and I’m showing up on the first search page in google (took about 8 months or so). But I still feel it could be better in terms of SEO. Does a WordPress website get better SEO than wix? If I move to WordPress will google have to reindex my site, making it take another several months to reindex? If I hire someone to do WordPress, will I be dependent on them In the future for doing any changes to the site (I like having that control with wix)..
